The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) an internationally recognized program for the assessment, placement, and treatment of substance use disorders. ASAM uses a six dimension assessment to holistically assess and develop a client need driven plan of treatment that considers the correct level and intensity of care for each individual. Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health follows ASAM guidelines and provides outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and residential levels of care.
The length of stay in each level of care is determined by on going assessment of progress so that individuals in our ASAM programs do not become stagnant but move up or down in intensity based on progress or decline. Our ASAM assessment and levels also consider and treat mental health conditions that co-occur with substance use disorders as treating both illness concurrently is evidenced as the best practice.
