FARMINGTON — Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health (SEMO-BH) marked 50 years of service to seven Missouri counties with a celebration Nov. 1, at the Aquinas Center in Farmington.

Farmington Mayor Larry Forsythe read a proclamation recognizing SEMO-BH’s effort to meet the community’s behavioral health needs, and leaders from SEMO-BH gave an overview of the agency’s work in southeast Missouri.

Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health offers psychiatric evaluation, medication management, co-occurring counseling, family therapy, trauma therapy, care coordination, peer support, group counseling and group education.

“Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health has a lot to celebrate and appreciates the relationships that it has built in the communities over the years in an effort to better serve those in need,” Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health President Cathy Schroer said.

In the summer of 2023, SEMO-BH became part of Brightli, Inc., a parent company with a portfolio that also includes Burrell Behavioral Health and Preferred Family Healthcare, among others.

SEMO-BH employs more than 200 people who offer individualized treatment for personal and family needs in substance-use disorders, psychiatric and behavioral health.

“We are very proud of the commitment that our employees show on a daily basis,” Schroer said. “Their dedication and compassion to serve others is the foundation of our agency, and without them we would not be able to serve our communities.”

SEMO-BH also offers community and preventative service programs, including suicide prevention education training.
